Adventure and Family

The Noordas are here!! We are so grateful for our daughter and her family's visit!

Grandkids, iguanas, parrots and the beach - a great combination!

On the beach at night.

La Isabella

Misioneros with the beautiful grandkids. This tree was alive when Columbus was here.

One of Columbus's men in the background.

Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo

Traffic Jam. Truck with tires and black car beside it in the barrow pit. There are two lanes of cars going the wrong way on the other side of the freeway. It was CRAZY!

The big tour bus and the red truck were in the barrow pit. Notice the cars going the wrong way on the other side of the freeway. They drive NUTS!

Want a ride. I'm sure they could fit you in.

This has to be a talent!

Cacao can grow anywhere on the tree. This plantation is one of the largest producers of cacao used to make chocolate all over the world.

Beautiful tropical flower.

One way to transport a ladder on a motorcycle.

A woman selling charcoal from her donkey.

Motos going to be sold.

A very clean bathroom - the woman actually cleans while you go! No TP and flushing with a bucket. Clean bathrooms with toilet seats are a luxury.

Sink on the other side - no water or soap but at least they tried.

Beautiful fields at Constanza.

Women in these huge curlers is a common site. They really work to have straight hair.

Kids chillin' on a Saturday afternoon.

Crops being protected from the sun. Maybe strawberries??

Ensenada Beach - so beautiful and peaceful!

Want some fish for lunch?

This is the restaurant kitchen. Everything is cooked over fires.

The fish tasted really good!

Girls selling mangoes.

Just caught.

Yum crab!

Shells we found on Ensenada beach.

So scary! Notice the little one sitting on the floor of the scooter. We see variations of this every day.

Elections are coming up. The mayor has the city workers wearing these T shirts and hats. I asked to take one man's picture and he gathered all his friends.

Pineapple fields. You can barely see the goats grazing. Goats also graze in the tobacco fields.

Beautiful view in Monte Crisit - the northern-most beach in the country.

Salt fields in Monte Cristi. I don't know what the shacks are for. I think Morton Salt processes the salt.

Cute little boy by the LDS church in Monte Cristi. He says he has a friend that goes to that church.

Banana fields. I think the bags protect against birds.

It is orchid season. There are hundreds of varieties growing everywhere. They are gorgeous.

Tobacco drying and growing.

Truckload of rice. I can't believe how much they can get onto a truck.
